Tongyu Advances Global Connectivity with LEO-GEO Satellite Solutions and Low-Altitude Antennas

ZHONGSHAN, China: At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2025, Tongyu Communication Inc. unveiled a suite of cutting-edge wireless communication technologies, spotlighting its MacroWiFi large-area coverage solution and five other key product categories. These include satellite communication systems for ground-to-satellite connectivity, high-efficiency base station antennas, integrated massive MIMO antennas combined with sheet metal filters, and antennas designed for low-altitude coverage. The exhibition underscored Tongyu’s strides in satellite communications, 5G-Advanced (5G-A), 6G evolution, low-altitude economy applications, and last-mile connectivity, positioning the company at the forefront of innovation in the wireless communications industry.

A highlight of Tongyu’s showcase was MacroWiFi, a breakthrough Wi-Fi solution that extends wireless coverage to unprecedented distances. Utilizing high-gain antenna arrays and a proprietary long-distance transmission protocol, MacroWiFi delivers reliable Wi-Fi coverage spanning 1.5 to 2 kilometers outdoors—approximately ten times the range of traditional Wi-Fi systems.

The technology supports a wide 180-degree coverage angle and can accommodate up to 200 concurrent users, ensuring efficient bandwidth distribution and seamless connectivity. This makes MacroWiFi ideal for expansive outdoor environments such as large farms, remote mountainous regions, and mining operations where conventional cellular networks are insufficient. The solution is cloud-managed, enabling centralized control and precise billing, which enhances operational efficiency and user experience. Pilot projects deploying MacroWiFi are currently underway in Southeast Asia, signaling the company’s commitment to global expansion and practical application of this technology.

As global digitalization accelerates, satellite communication is increasingly vital for comprehensive global connectivity. Tongyu presented its innovative satellite-to-ground interconnection solutions that integrate Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellite technologies. This hybrid approach ensures reliable, high-efficiency connectivity for critical sectors including maritime transportation, aviation communications, emergency response, and remote or underserved regions. The company’s satellite communication portfolio encompasses onboard payloads, ground stations, and commercial satellite terminals. These technologies have been successfully deployed in experimental satellite internet projects and are now integrated into the supply chains of major international operators.

Strategically, Tongyu has established a production base in Hubei, China, and invested heavily in satellite-related ventures through joint ventures and industrial funds. This positions the company to meet the growing demand for dependable satellite payloads, ground stations, and terminals, reinforcing its leadership in the satellite communication industry. Winnie Wu, Vice President of Tongyu Communication, emphasized the company’s role as a key innovator in global communications technology, noting its continuous technological advancements and industry-leading expertise.

In addition to satellite and wide-area Wi-Fi solutions, Tongyu introduced a new antenna designed for low-altitude coverage, providing seamless ground-to-air connectivity up to 600 meters. This technology supports emerging applications such as drone logistics, emergency communications, and shared cellular networks. By enabling stable and efficient communications within low-altitude airspace, the antenna facilitates the growth of the low-altitude economy—a sector expected to expand rapidly with the proliferation of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This innovation not only boosts operational efficiency but also opens new avenues for cross-sector collaboration and economic development.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Zhongshan, China, Tongyu Communication Inc. has built a robust global footprint through its research, development, manufacturing, and sales of mobile communication antennas, radio frequency devices, and satellite communication solutions. The company operates manufacturing facilities in China and maintains subsidiaries across Europe and other international markets. Tongyu’s extensive product portfolio includes 5G Massive MIMO antennas, base station antennas, microwave antennas, RF components, optical modules, small cells, customer premises equipment (CPE), and Wi-Fi products. To date, more than 10 million Tongyu products have been deployed worldwide, underscoring the company’s significant impact on global telecommunications infrastructure.

Tongyu Communication’s latest innovations showcased at MWC Shanghai 2025 highlight its comprehensive approach to advancing wireless connectivity across multiple domains—from terrestrial Wi-Fi networks and low-altitude airspace coverage to satellite communications supporting global digitalization. With strategic investments, ongoing pilot projects, and a commitment to technological leadership, Tongyu is well-positioned to drive the evolution of next-generation communication networks and contribute significantly to the future of global connectivity.
